The Disappearing Act of Ice Caps (Chosen One)

1. Desaturated the original picture so it is in black and white and used the Quick Selection tool (W) to select the ice caps and the Brush tool (B) to paint it white.

2. Then, I used the (W) tool, to select the ocean part and then I used the (B) tool and painted it shades of blue, darker shades at the bottom and lighter shades at the top.

3. Then, I used the Ocean Ripple filter to blend the shades of blue and also to make it look like water.

4. Then, I used the (W) tool to select the sky part, and the (B) tool to colour it shades of blue same like the ocean, only darker shades on top and lighter at the bottom. Then, I used the Watercolour filter to blend the colours so that it looked like a raining sky.

5. Then, I tried out the Torn Edges filter on the ice caps but it did not have a visible effect.

6. Then, I used the Grain filter to create the effect of dust on the artwork that kind of dissolves into the background and makes it unclear.

7. Then, I used the Pencil tool and scrolled along the artwork to paint spots all over the artwork in black, red, orange and yellow.

8. Then, using the (B) tool, I tried to paint shadows along the ice caps and an outline for the ocean but it did not look nice so I removed it.

9. Then, I played with the levels of the artwork and set it higher to make the artwork darker.

10. Then, I tried the Wind filter to give the effect of wind blowing but again it did not look very nice so I removed it.

11. Then, I added a picture of the sky to my artwork, rasterized it and changed it to Luminosity.

12. Then, I used the Erazer tool to remove the picture from the ice caps and ocean, and changed the opacity to 91%.

Finally, this is the final product of my work after using photoshop.
