The Shaded Sun Beams

1. Desaturated the original so that it was in black and white.

2. Then, I used the Quick Selection tool (W), to select the inner most circle of the sun and used the Brush tool (B) to colour it yellow.

3. Then, I used the (W) tool to select the intermediate circle of the sun, and used the (B) tool to colour it orange.

4. Then, I used the (W) tool to select the outermost circle and used the (B) tool to colour it red.

5. Then, I used the Shape Blur filter to blend the colour so that it looks like the sun. Then, my laptop jammed for 3 hours and I had to off the whole laptop and I lost all my work and had to start from scratch again.

6. After repeating steps 1 - 4 again, I reduced the pixels from 300 to 200dpi. Then, I used the Shape Blur tool again and blended it at 143 pixels at first and prayed that it would work.

7. Thankfully, it did. Then, I used the same tool again and blended it at a higher pixel of 450. My laptop jammed again for a while but thankfully it worked. Finally, it actually looked like the sun.

8. Then, I used the (B) tool and selected a splatter form and painted 2 black each in diagonal corners. Then, I changed to the Pencil tool and scrolled along the artwork to paint spots all over the artwork.

9. Then, I added a picture of the sun to my artwork, rasterized the layer and changed it to Color Dodge.

Finally, this is the final product of my work after using photoshop.

Art Work Title: The Shaded Sun Beams

Visual Treatment:
i)      Brief description: The artwork shows that the sun is shining very brightly but as time goes by the sun will eventually die.
ii)      Art Movement: Abstract Expression
iii)      Reference Artist: Jackson Pollock
iv)      Theme: Environmentalism
v)      Ideation and Concept: The artwork shows the sun has a bright center and is shining very brightly. It is up close and personal as if seen from a spaceship rather than on earth. There are also dark black shapes and spots to symbolize that the sun is growing older and older year by year and will not last forever. It will eventually die no matter what we do. The question is if our species will out live the sun?

The Disappearing Act of Ice Caps (Chosen One)

1. Desaturated the original picture so it is in black and white and used the Quick Selection tool (W) to select the ice caps and the Brush tool (B) to paint it white.

2. Then, I used the (W) tool, to select the ocean part and then I used the (B) tool and painted it shades of blue, darker shades at the bottom and lighter shades at the top.

3. Then, I used the Ocean Ripple filter to blend the shades of blue and also to make it look like water.

4. Then, I used the (W) tool to select the sky part, and the (B) tool to colour it shades of blue same like the ocean, only darker shades on top and lighter at the bottom. Then, I used the Watercolour filter to blend the colours so that it looked like a raining sky.

5. Then, I tried out the Torn Edges filter on the ice caps but it did not have a visible effect.

6. Then, I used the Grain filter to create the effect of dust on the artwork that kind of dissolves into the background and makes it unclear.

7. Then, I used the Pencil tool and scrolled along the artwork to paint spots all over the artwork in black, red, orange and yellow.

8. Then, using the (B) tool, I tried to paint shadows along the ice caps and an outline for the ocean but it did not look nice so I removed it.

9. Then, I played with the levels of the artwork and set it higher to make the artwork darker.

10. Then, I tried the Wind filter to give the effect of wind blowing but again it did not look very nice so I removed it.

11. Then, I added a picture of the sky to my artwork, rasterized it and changed it to Luminosity.

12. Then, I used the Erazer tool to remove the picture from the ice caps and ocean, and changed the opacity to 91%.

Finally, this is the final product of my work after using photoshop.

Art Work Title: The Disappearing Act of Ice Caps

Visual Treatment:
i)      Brief description: The artwork shows that the ice caps are melting due to air pollution which is thinning the ozone layer and allowing more sun rays to penetrate through the atmosphere increasing the temperature of the air.
ii)      Art Movement: Abstract Expression
iii)      Reference Artist: Jackson Pollock
iv)      Theme: Environmentalism
v)      Ideation and Concept: The artwork shows the ice caps breaking off and becoming smaller as it goes on. It is also covered with red, orange and yellow dots that show heat rays from the sun being so hot that it is causing the ice caps to melt away. The black dots signify air pollution.

The Greyish Clouds of Death

1. Desaturated the original so that it was in black and white.

2. Then, I used the Quick Selection tool (W) to select the sky around the clouds and then used the Brush tool (B) to paint the sky starting with the darker shades of blue and top and lighter shades towards the bottom.

3. Then, I used the Watercolour filter to blend the colours a bit.

4. Then, I used the Plastic Wrap filter to highlight the center of the sky so that it looked like the sun was behind the clouds.

5. Then, I used the Box Blur filter to blend the colours properly so that it flowed.

6. Then, I used the (W) tool to select the outline of the clouds and (B) tool to colour it dark cyan blue.

7. Then, I used the (W) tool again to select the clouds, and  the (B) tool to colour it white.

8. Then, I used the (W) tool to select the whole clouds including the outline, and used the Box Blur filter to blend the colours together.

9. Then, I used the Grain filter to create the effect of dust on the artwork that kind of dissolves into the background and makes it not very clear.

10.  Then, I used the (B) tool and selected a splatter form and painted a few shapes on the artwork in black and grey.

Finally, this is the final product of my work after using photoshop.

Art Work Title: The Greyish Clouds of Death
Visual Treatment:
i)      Brief description: The artwork shows that the sky and the clouds being covered in dust and dirt meaning air pollution that is increasing in time and bad for the earth.
ii)      Art Movement: Abstract Expression
iii)      Reference Artist: Jackson Pollock
iv)      Theme: Environmentalism
v)      Ideation and Concept: The artwork shows the sky from darker to lighter shades as it goes closer to the earth and yet the clouds and all are still covered in dust and dirt that is caused by humans. The main idea is that although these clouds do not seem very dangerous, they are actually clouds of death as it can cause acid rain that ill not only harm humans but also property.
